Please Stop Making Ugly Apps
It seems to me that most Android apps are just plain ugly. Gmail, one of my most used apps, looks like it was made by a 1st year designer with an irrational fear of gradients. I mean honestly, it’s bland as hell. How about the stock Contacts app? About the same.
People may complain about Apple’s skeumorphic designs, but at least they have something interesting to look at. Android apps look like shite. I do have to give credit where it’s due though. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare, Zaarly, and Feedly all have nice apps (you may notice that the Feedly one avoids gradients, but does it well). They are in the minority though. So please, Android app developers, pop open a design book or two, and give me something that doesn’t look like crap, please.
(I apologize for the language, I’m just sick of getting such half-assed apps)
